Well we never got there-partly due to bad navigation
and partly because it slowly dawned on me that the 80miles estimated distance was from Thirsk and NOT Ripon!!!
In fact, we did 110miles in the end

We reached the 'Game On' point. I shouted
"On the right" and past nearly all the group…..
But the front two riders kicked; I latched onto the
leader’s back wheel; he was on the max.
Like an angler playing a fish!

At Wensley we took the upper dale track…
and on reaching Castle Bolton we were greeted with a road-sign
that read ‘Reeth 6 miles’ … how could we resist?

We were all dripping water
as we walked in and then my
glasses steamed up. A combination of
waterproof trousers and overshoes had kept
my legs and feet dry, for which I was
grateful.
